How to Enable the EPG (TV Guide) on Your IPTV

A simple, step-by-step guide to switching on the EPG (TV guide) for your AbyssTV subscription across the most popular apps and devices.

The EPG, or Electronic Program Guide, is the on-screen TV guide that shows what's playing now and what's coming up next on every channel. With AbyssTV, the EPG turns your channel list into a proper TV experience: you can scroll ahead, see full programme schedules, and jump straight to what you want to watch. This IPTV EPG guide walks you through switching it on, step by step, no tech skills required.

What the EPG Does (and Why It Sometimes Needs a Nudge)

Your AbyssTV subscription streams thousands of live channels, and the EPG is the layer that adds programme names, start times, and descriptions on top of them. Most modern apps load it automatically, but occasionally it needs a manual push, a quick refresh, or a moment to finish downloading. The good news: it's almost always a two-minute fix.

Note: The EPG data can be large, so give it a few minutes to fully populate the first time you enable it. It often fills in channel by channel rather than all at once.

Before You Start

Have these details from your AbyssTV welcome email ready:

  • The M3U URL (your playlist link)
  • Your username & password

Most apps pull the EPG automatically once your playlist is connected using the M3U URL / username & password from your AbyssTV welcome email. If you set up your service with those details, you're already 90% of the way there.

Enabling the EPG in TiviMate

TiviMate is one of the most popular apps for AbyssTV, and its guide is excellent once activated.

  1. Open TiviMate and go to Settings.
  2. Select your AbyssTV playlist under Playlists.
  3. Make sure EPG is set to load from the playlist source. If you were given a separate EPG (XMLTV) link in your welcome email, add it under EPG Sources.
  4. Return to Settings and choose EPG > Update now to force a fresh download.
  5. Back out to the guide (press the left arrow or the guide button) and give it a minute to fill in.

Tip: In TiviMate's EPG settings you can increase how many days of guide data are stored. Setting this to its maximum gives you a longer look ahead at upcoming programmes.

Enabling the EPG in IPTV Smarters / Smarters Pro

  1. Open IPTV Smarters and log in with your AbyssTV details if you haven't already.
  2. From the main menu, tap the EPG icon or open Live TV.
  3. Go to Settings and find the EPG or Auto EPG option.
  4. Tap Refresh EPG (sometimes shown as "Reload EPG" or a refresh arrow).
  5. Wait for the download to finish, then reopen Live TV to see the guide alongside each channel.

If you added AbyssTV using the Xtream Codes / API login (username, password, and server URL) rather than a plain M3U file, the EPG usually loads automatically with no extra steps.

Enabling the EPG on Firestick and Android TV

The apps above work the same on Firestick, Android TV boxes, and Google TV, so follow the TiviMate or IPTV Smarters steps for your chosen app. A few device-specific pointers:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to the internet and the date/time are set correctly. An incorrect clock is the number-one cause of a guide that looks shifted or empty.
  2. Open your IPTV app and trigger an EPG update as described above.
  3. If the guide still looks blank, force-close the app (hold the app icon, then choose Close or Force Stop) and reopen it.

Tip: A wrong time zone will make programmes appear at the wrong times. Check your device's date, time, and time-zone settings before assuming the EPG itself is broken.

Enabling the EPG on MAG and Smart TV Apps

  1. On MAG boxes and many Smart TV IPTV apps, the EPG is tied to your portal or playlist, so it loads when your AbyssTV service is connected.
  2. Look in the app's Settings for an EPG or Program Guide toggle and make sure it's switched on.
  3. Choose Update or Refresh if the option is available, then restart the app.

If the EPG Still Won't Show

Most guide problems come down to a handful of simple causes. Work through these in order:

  1. Refresh it manually. Trigger an EPG update inside your app rather than waiting for the automatic one.
  2. Check your clock. Confirm the device's date, time, and time zone are correct, then restart the app.
  3. Re-add your playlist. Remove and re-enter your AbyssTV service using the M3U URL / username & password from your AbyssTV welcome email, which forces a clean download.
  4. Give it time. The guide can take several minutes to populate fully, especially on a fresh setup or a large channel list.
  5. Update the app. Make sure you're on the latest version of TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or your chosen player.
  6. Restart your device. A full power-cycle clears temporary glitches that can stall a guide download.

Note: A missing guide almost never means your AbyssTV subscription is down. If channels are playing but the guide is blank, it's an EPG-loading issue, and the steps above resolve the vast majority of cases.
